Skiing & snow boarding in Fort William, Scotland

Skiing and snowboarding in Fort William are just two winter sports you can enjoy when you visit us over the winter months between December and April each year. Skiing in Scotland can be fantastic, but we really depend on a combination of succesive cold weather systems to lay the snow down, and then for a prolonged cold period to remain when the snow can be consolidated and pisted. 2009/2010 winter skiing season was exceptional for winter sports.  We get great snowfalls over the mountains, but then sometimes the mild Atlantic weather comes in and washes some of it away...

The photos on this page are taken from the mountain Aonach Mor, near to Ben Nevis, where our ski slopes and pistes are managed by Nevis Range (thanks to John Wilson, a local skier).

Nevis range offer ski school for youngsters and adults in both skiing and snow boarding so even if you have not skied before, you can come to Fort William and give it a go !

If you have any interesting photos of skiing at Fort William, we would consider publishing them if you would like to send us two or three to look at.

Nevis range outdoor activity centre is also heavily into mountain biking and forest walks, and is open all year round to visitors. The mountain gondola is usually closed in November for annual maintenance.

It is also possible to ski in Glencoe.
