Autumn & Winter Activities in and around Fort William

The Fort William area is alive and kicking during the Autumn and Winter months. We have lots to offer for a relaxing short break, or activity break.

Autumn and winter in the Fort William area is often a magical time of year. Our forested glens are changing colour in all their splendour, then when the temperature drops and the mountains are covered in snow, the scenery changes again. Look out for high-pressure over the West Highlands when the weather here can be superb, with bright frosty mornings and awesome winter sunsets.

If winter climbing or ice climbing is something you would like to try, our outdoor mountain guides are here to offer a variety of climbing experiences.

Nevis Range is open in time for Christmas and a gondola ride to their mountain restaurant is a really good activity - take your camera or video cos the views can be stunning - especially in the middle of the afternoon as the sun is setting...

After a busy summer lots of B&Bs, guesthouses and some hotels usually take a long break but there always good place to stay like self catering and of course our restaurants and pubs are here to welcome you and to help you make the most of your visit to Fort William and Lochaber, the outdoor capital of the UK.

It is uncertain how quickly everyone will get back to what we know as normal. However, it is likely that most businesses in and around Fort William will be open for business should circumstance allow. Having an Autumn or Winter break in the Highlands could just be what you are waiting for.
